Surgery for asymptomatic primary hyperparathyroidism

Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is not an uncommon endocrine disease in regions where there are liberal indications for serum calcium measurements. There is a general consensus that virtually all patients with symptomatic PHPT should undergo an operation.
